RAMBO KNIFE REVIEW

The recent release of the new series of Rambo Knives by Master Cutlery has been an incredible success.  Still it has been hard for customers to find out specific details on each of these special knives.  Whether you refer to them as Rambo Knives, Rambo Bowie Knives or Rambo Survival Knives everyone knows what you are talking about.

These Rambo knives have almost a cult following due to the success of the movies and the image that is portrayed for the Rambo Knife.  Even with all the demand for these Rambo Knives there still seems to be a lack of detailed information available on these knives available on the Internet.  Sure you can get the standard specs on the various Rambo knives but we have had several requests from customers for more specific information.

Here we will review the Rambo Bowie & Survival knives from the Master Cutlery series.

RAMBO 1st BLOOD PART II KNIFE

Rambo 1^st Blood Part II Knife – Numbered, Signature series: This is a heavy bladed knife.  The blade is 1 7/8^th inches wide, almost a ¼ inch thick and 10 inches long.  The blade spine features a double row of saw teeth; each row is about 3/32nds of an inch wide.  The tips of these teeth look like and feel like the teeth on a chain saw.  The saw teeth go to a single row on the clip point portion of the blade.  There are only 5000 of these knives being produced and each blade is stamped Rambo First Blood Part II, has the John Rambo signature and is numbered.

The guard on the Rambo 1^st Blood Part II survival knife has two lashing holes, a Phillips screwdriver tip on one side and a standard screw driver tip on the other.  The black cord wrapped handle is very comfortable in your hand and will absorb moisture off you hand to help you keep a better grip when you are sweating or it is raining.  The handle is hollow and had a removable threaded end cap that seals tight with a rubber grommet.  In the handle there is a small re-sealable plastic vial that contains matches, a fishing rig and razor blade.

The removable butt cap has a hole to hook a lanyard through.  The exposed end of the butt cap is designed with a blunt tip that can be used as an impact weapon, to break glass or pound with.  From the look and weight of the end cap it appears to be aluminum.

This Rambo 1^st Blood Part II Survival Knife comes with a black leather sheath with a leg tie.  The sheath is stamped Rambo 1^st Blood Part II and with the John Rambo signature.  The belt loop is large enough to accommodate belts up to 3 1/4 inches wide.

Each Rambo 1st Blood Part II knife comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Rambo 1st Blood 25th Anniversary Individually Numbered Survival Knife

Rambo 1^st Blood 25^th Anniversary Individually Numbered Survival Knife with green cord wrapped handle: This is a heavy bladed knife.  The stainless steel blade is 1 ½ inches wide, almost a ¼ inch thick and 9 inches long and has a matte satin finish.  The blade spine features a double row of saw teeth; each row is about 3/32nds of an inch wide.  The tips of these teeth feel like the teeth on a chain saw.  The saw teeth on the Rambo 1^st Blood 25^th Anniversary Survival Knife go to a single row on the clip point portion of the blade.  Only 10,000 of these knives will be produced and each blade has the 25^th Anniversary logo imprinted on it and is individually numbered near the guard. 

The guard of the Rambo 1^st Blood 25^th Anniversary Individually Numbered Survival Knife is stainless, has lashing holes and a Phillips screwdriver tip on one side and a standard screw driver tip on the other.  The handle is tightly wrapped with heavy O.D. green nylon cord.  This wrapping is very comfortable in your hand and will absorb moisture from your hand to help you keep a better grip when you are sweating or it is raining.  The handle is hollow and has a removable threaded non-magnetic aluminum butt cap that seals water tight with a rubber grommet.  Inside the handle there is a small re-sealable plastic vial that contains matches, a fishing rig and razor blade.

The removable butt cap is aluminum.  The exposed side of the butt cap on this Rambo knife is flat and will make a great impact weapon.  The inside of the butt cap contains a precision compass.

This Rambo 1^st Blood 25^th Anniversary Individually Numbered Survival Knife comes with a brown top grain leather sheath with a leg tie.  The sheath is stamped Rambo 1^st Blood and has the 25^th Anniversary logo imprinted.  The belt loop is large enough to accommodate belts up to 3 inches wide.

Rambo First Blood Survival Knife Numbered Signature Edition

The Rambo First Blood Survival Knife - Numbered Signature Edition is identical to the Rambo 1st Blood 25th Anniversary with some minor changes on the markings.  Each knife is individually numbered on the blade and the John Rambo signature appears on the blade.  The brown leather sheath is imprinted with the John Rambo signature and Rambo First Blood.  Each Rambo First Blood survival knife comes with a certificate of authenticity. Only 5000 of these knives will be produced for worldwide distribution.

RAMBO 4 SURVIVAL KNIFE

Rambo 4 Survival Knife – This is a heavy bladed solid flat black knife that looks like a small machete and is hand forged from a single piece of 1040 high carbon steel by the same craftsmen that make samurai swords.  It weighs almost 3 pounds.

The Rambo 4 survival knife blade is 1 7/8^th inches wide near the hand grip and 2 ¼ inches wide at the tip.  It is almost a ¼ inch thick at the front edge of the blade spine.  The cutting edge of the blade is 10 inches long and the overall blade is 12 inches.  Going into the handle area the blade spine is over ¼” wide.  The tip is a quasi Tanto type point that designed for easy penetration.

The grip of the Rambo 4 survival knife is tightly wrapped with black leather creating a firm but padded grip.  This helps you retain a good grasp when working hard with the knife, whether you are sweating or it is pouring down rain.

The grip area itself is about 5 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide. The butt of the Rambo 4 survival knife has a hole drilled in it for a lanyard.  A black leather wrist strap comes attached.  This wrist strap will allow you to dangle the knife from your wrist while you are moving things, but still keep it handy.

This Rambo 4 survival knife comes with a dark brown leather sheath with a leg tie.  The sheath is stamped Rambo.  The belt loop is large enough to accommodate belts up to 3 1/4 inches wide.

Will you be able to pry with this knife?  I did not do a strength test on the Rambo 4 knife, but have you ever tried to break or bend a ¼” piece of steel that is 2” wide?  If you just tried to pry with the very tip you might break or bend it, but if you get a good solid bite with the knife I think you will be good to go.
