Dual heat treatment - edge hardened 58-59 RC and back hardened 45-46 RC. Genuine ebony, leather and brass handle. Bead blast solid brass finger guard and pommel. Genuine brown leather belt sheath with crocodile skin pattern and sharpening spike.

The Outback™ features a forged, dual heat treated 440C stainless blade honed to a razor sharp edge. The back retains some spring to it while the edge has been made hard enough to withstand hundreds or thousands of cuts with no perceptible dulling. This is not a wall hanger - we set out to create the most devastatingly effective Bowie knife ever produced, and designed every detail like we mean it. Hack, slash, chop, cut, crush... This is one blade that will never let you down. Down Under Knives believe in putting their money where their mouth is, so they back this claim with a full five-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

The Outback Bowie Knife handle is skillfully crafted out of genuine ebony, leather and brass with an ultra-strong tang that will not twist or break in heavy use.

The solid, bead blasted brass handguard and pommel complete the distinctive look. The Outback™ is truly both a great example of the knifemaker's art as well as the most rugged, dependable tool an outdoorsman could wish for.

The Outback™ comes with a genuine heavy leather sheath patterned to resemble crocodile skin. The sheath features an integral retaining boot for the included high quality sharpening spike.

Just got my Outback Bowie Knife today. The knife is extremely immaculate and alos very solid and usable. The blade showed a good bit of tarnish and smudges on it, but after some multi-purpose cleaner and a few swipes with a soft clean rag, and I got a shiny, mirror-polished knife blade. The knife has a needle sharp point that brought my hand to a minor bloody cut hen I just barely accidentally poked it;; And despite some reviewers, the knife came already razor sharp. All of the knife; the blade, handle, guard, and pommel is nice and tight and solid! This is truly one unmatched, awesome knife. The sheath at first wasn;t all it is cracked up to be. But after handling it and looking at it again a 2nd or 3rd time, I can see and understand its high quality. The Outback Bowie Knife is heavy and should be considered a hatchet-knife because of its heavy weight and construction. It is heaviest towards the end of the blade, which is what gives a Bowie knife its characteristics. I can't wait to use this awesome knife the way it was meant to be used, which is for hiking, camping, survival, self-defense (especially). I cannot wait to be able to try it or any of my big Bowie and Fixed Blade knives on someone else in an act of defending myself and my home. I will have no problem whatsoever pulling this knife out onsomeone who tries to harm me or my wife, or tries to break in. I am pretty sure my dogs, two Rottweilers, would love to snack on a severed arm or leg. This knife is so powerful and heavy, I believe it would go right straight through an arm, leg, or even someone's neck! I mean, what the Hell we going to do? Try to use the phone and call a Barney Fife looking police officer while we are being beaten, and let the robbers continue to beat up on us and hurt us while a Barney Fife officer, with his bullet in his pocket, putputts out to where we are? No way! I believe in capital punishment and in taking the law into our own hands, and trust me when I say that I would grab my new Outback Bowie Knife and doing me some damn human robber slicing. And by the time I am done with that robber, I would be able to just stuff the parts into a small box and toss it in the trashcan! Anyway, I highly recommend this awesome Bowie knife! Not only is it just downright awesome; It is also very intimidating as well. And that's not all bad either!
